How AMSA Started
The Automotive Mentorship Society of Alberta was born from a simple observation: too many apprentices were leaving the trade not because they lacked ability, but because they lacked support. The classroom could teach theory, but real-world competence required hands-on practice, patient guidance, and a community that understood the demands of the trade.
Up to 12 SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) automotive instructors came together to form a Society under the Alberta Societies Act — a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gap between formal education and professional excellence.
With a dedicated headquarters in Calgary featuring shop space with hoists and flat bays, plus office and media facilities, AMSA provides the physical and digital infrastructure for automotive professionals to learn, grow, and give back.

Our Five Pillars
AMSA operates on five interconnected pillars — each one strengthens the others.
Mentorship
One-on-one and group mentorship pairing apprentices with experienced journeypersons and SAIT instructors. Every member has access to guidance from professionals who've walked the path.
Education
Training nights, guest speakers, diagnostic workshops, and safety orientations. Continuous learning is the cornerstone of trade excellence.
Facility
A dedicated headquarters with supervised shop access — hoists, flat bays, diagnostic equipment, and a professional tool library. A real shop for real work.
Digital Platform
The Master's Bench — our members-only app providing real-time diagnostic chat, a peer marketplace, direct messaging, threaded discussions, and a growing resource library.
Media & Outreach
Media production space for technical content, public awareness campaigns, car shows, and community events that promote the automotive trade in Alberta.
